0:47
Let’s get started.
Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of the self-confidence Project.
I’m your host Kimberly Hill.
Been a little missing in action lately for the past few months as I’ve been taking some time to just deal with my health and get healthy and well so I can come back to this podcast, come back to social media, come back to my clients, come back to doing this dating and relationship coaching.
1:15
So firstly, for those of you that might be listening to this episode for the first time, maybe you’ve been following my podcast for the last few years or just joined recently.
Who the heck am I?
My name is Kimberly Hill, my men’s dating and relationship coach.
And for around five years now, I’ve been helping good hearted men get into deeply loving relationships, as well as help men who are in relationships to reconnect to their partners, kind of rediscover that fun and passion and spark.
1:42
Because remember guys, dating is supposed to be fun.
Relationships are supposed to be fun.
So this is what I do.
And I’m glad that you’re here.
And this podcast is really all about life and dating and relationships and all the wacky things that are going on in this world as it pertains to this part of our lives.
1:59
So if you’re interested in learning a little bit more, there are two offerings that I currently have.
One is a master class on talking with women.
So guys, if you’re a little nervous when it comes to texting a woman, starting a conversation on a dating app, or approaching that gorgeous woman in the gym or at your local coffee shop, then you are definitely going to want to check out this master class.
2:21
Because within 60 minutes or less, you’re going to feel a lot more confident, empowered, and ready to text and talk with that next woman.
I’m going to completely debunk all of the crazy things that men think about when they’re talking to women.
2:37
Give you a little more confidence so that you can really just approach her without feeling like you’re approaching her.
Take that kind of worry and and creepiness that can sometimes come into your mindset when you think, hey, you know, this woman doesn’t want to be approached by me.
I guarantee many women do want to be approached and they are waiting for a guy like you to do it in just the right way.
2:56
So go check out that master class.
There’s a link to get it.
It’s just a small investment for you guys to to listen to that.
And I’ve got the link to to that master class in the show notes of this podcast as well as you can grab that on my website at https://kimberlyhill548.lpages.co/10tipsmasterclass/
3:12
Now, because I’ve been away from work for the past couple of months dealing with my health, I am back and now my consultations are once again open for brand new clients.
So if you are looking to work with the coach, you’re really wanting to make 2024 the year where you enjoy dating, you really get clarity on the type of relationship and partner that you’re looking for and understand the elements of compatibility.
3:36
And you know, and, and overcome maybe some of the emotional baggage that maybe you’re carrying from a past relationship or, you know, past, you know, divorce perhaps that you’ve gone through recently, then definitely check that out.
We always start with a complimentary conversation just to really understand, you know, what’s going on for you, who I am, if we’re a good fit.
3:57
And then we can talk about what a private personalized coaching relationship would look like to really help you have fun in dating, attract the right types of women, move away from the wrong types of women and get into that deeply loving relationship that you are craving.
So if you do want to check that out, you’ve been on the fence with working with a coach for a little while, but maybe now feels like a better time to give it a try.
4:19
And then please click the link to book that consultation with me.
I do have spots open now after a few months off.
Now today’s podcast is all about what is going on in the dating app world and I wanted to share with you what new changes have been brought on to the Hinge dating app.
4:37
Now, this is the dating app that pretty much most people are familiar with.
They have a a fun little slogan that it’s the dating app that is designed to be deleted, IE they are trying to say, hey, we really focus on forming genuine matches and getting people off the app.
4:55
Take it for what it is, right?
They have millions and millions of users around the world.
It is, however, probably one of my more favorite apps these days.
I do enjoy the features that it has a little bit more than others such as Tinder and Bumble, but they’re also making changes too to try and stay relevant in today’s dating market.
5:12
However, you guys know that if you’ve dabbled with online dating, you do have to be careful about, you know how you’re presenting yourself online, which photos you are using.
You know, what kind of question and answer prompts and how you know you are answering them and what kind of tone and, and positivity you’re bringing onto the platform because that is going to really impact the matches you get, the results you get and the experience you have online.
5:37
But one of the things that Hinge themselves when did a survey and one of the things that has been the biggest frustration for a lot of dating app users, at least through what respondents said in the survey, is that 44% of them are saying, you know, the biggest challenge is that there’s this lack of responsiveness online.
5:57
If you’re going to match with somebody, say something, right?
Otherwise, why are you matching with them?
We have these inboxes with unread messages and people not responding to us, and it just is leading to this dating burnout that so many of us are feeling.
So what Hinge is doing is they’re now testing out a new feature that requires you to deal and these women to deal with their inbox before they just go ahead and make new matches.
6:21
Because the point of a dating app is not to have 30 people left on unread sitting there for when you decide you want to get back to them in a couple weeks or a couple months, right?
You know, that’s one of the most frustrating things that people are experiencing with online dating.
6:37
So it wants to test out this new feature that is saying you better deal with your inbox before we allow you to make new matches.
So of course, this is going to prevent women and men from just going on a swiping frenzy, sending messages left, right and center in the hopes that they make some kind of connection because that’s not a very genuine or thoughtful approach.
6:58
And of course, then we end up with these, you know, inboxes that we all dread that go nowhere and, you know, make a lot of us feel like shit.
So what Hinge is doing is when you are at 8 or more people that are waiting for a reply in your inbox, you need to either reply to them and deal with it or you simply need to unmatch that individual before you can go on, continue using the platform and continue sending more likes.
7:26
What do you think about that?
I for one.
Now, how it works in practicality and how it makes people feel when they use this feature is one thing, but the intention seems to be a pretty good one.
And this is really just ultimately because we need to combat this dating burnout, right?
7:44
So this is being rolled out and it’s it was rolled out.
They put the press release out in May.
So I’m a few weeks behind us to win.
Hinge announced this, but this is gonna be starting in the UK, United States, Canada and Australia.
Really all the markets that I work with work with men who who are wanting support with dating.
8:05
But really, I’m curious, how do you feel about dating apps yourself?
How do you feel about, you know, lots of different changes being, you know, put on to dating apps and, and them trying to dictate, you know, how you can use them and you know, what’s the right way?
8:22
What do you feel?
How do you feel about dating apps today?
Guys, those of you that are listening to this podcast, ’cause I am hearing a pretty big divide.
I’m hearing that either men are ultimately giving up on them all together, right?
8:38
They are just saying like dating apps do not work for me point blank.
And they have their rationale and they have their reasons or they are on there and they are genuinely having success.
So which camp are you in?
8:55
And one of the things that’s really kind of interesting is that, you know, with these matches, when you make a match online, one of the cool things that Bumble has done and, and I think they’re removing this feature at some point too.
But for a while there, they were trying to say, hey, guys, when you match with somebody, you need to start that conversation within 24 hours or it’s going to expire.
9:17
And that is because, and Hinge did a study, right?
So we’re talking, we’re talking the Bumble platform here for a second.
But in 2022, Hinge did a study where it says when the first message is responded to within 24 hours, it was 72% more likely to result in a date.
9:42
Let me say that again.
When the first message is responded to on Hinge within 24 hours, it is 72% more likely to result in a date, right?
9:57
So This is why Bumble on their app try to encourage the 24 hour message rule.
However, because they put the onus on women, they dropped the ball in many cases.
But the stats don’t lie.
So if you have eight people sitting in your inbox all unread because you’re worried about what to say, you don’t know what to say, guys, you’re not sure how to start the conversation.
10:21
Time is of the essence here.
So if you go beyond 24 hours, you are really hurting your chances.
So if you’re listening to this and you’re like, shit, that’s me.
I’m guilty.
Like I match these women and then I kind of freeze up and don’t know what to say.
And then I’m just going to like gentle reminder to go check out that master class on talking to women because it is going to help you understand how women communicate.
10:46
It is going to give you tangible examples on what you can say.
And for those of you that sign up for the master class, there’s an added bonus that if you’re interested in shares 35 proven opening messages that you can use and or tailor to start a message on a dating app.
11:08
So if you were someone that gets a little bit nervous as to what you can say and you give yourself lots of time to think something up, soon as you get past that 24 hours, you are losing your chances to really connect with that individual.
11:24
So Hinge is putting in this change to say, come on, guys, apps are not about you mindlessly scrolling and just sending likes out to anybody.
But really you need to, you know, slow down, start these conversations.
If they’re not going very well, fine, clear your inbox out and get on to sending more likes.
11:44
But don’t just sit there mindlessly matching with women or women.
Just sit there mindlessly matching with a man with no intention of ever saying anything ’cause ’cause that is the biggest dating frustration and challenge for you guys.
So I wanted to share what the Hinge update was on this podcast.
12:01
Hopefully you guys are now up to speed with how the app is working.
If you’re a current user of it, let me know in in the send me a note.
Send me a note just through Instagram DM like hey, I’m loving this new feature.
It’s really working for me.
It’s kind of forcing me to be a little more selective or I’m not liking it so much.
12:19

Or maybe we’re going to be a match made in heaven.
I’m going to help you find that dream woman of yours.
